Malia was part of the youngest women’s final at the Women's Honda U.S. Open of Surfing presented by O'Neill in Huntington Beach and took top prize winning with a two-wave score of 14.34 points. Successes: Malia Manuel has won the Women's Honda U.S. Open of Surfing presented by O'Neill title with prize money of $4500, a new jetski, and 2500 ASP WQS points. Past successes for surfer Malia Manuel include a high finish in the 2006 Haleiwa OP Pro, Runner-up in the 2006 Open Women NSSA Nationals, 2007 NSSA Middle School Girls Champion, the 2007 Ripcurl Grom Search National Girls win, and a 2007 NSSA Hawaii's Open Women Regional Champion.
